POLICY
The
policies below are applicable to TELETOON Canada Inc. ("TELETOON").
TELETOON is committed to providing a fun, entertaining and safe Web
site for visitors of all ages. It is for this reason that we are taking
measures to implement a Privacy Policy and demonstrate our firm commitment
to your personal privacy.
Collecting
Information
TELETOON collects personal information in the following ways:
(i)
contest registration,
(ii) subscriptions to e-mail news letters,
(iii) online questionnaires,
(iv) shop.teletoon.com
(v) e-postcards
As
well, when visitors come to our site, we automatically collect some
non-personally identifiable information such as the type of computer
operating system (e.g., Windows '98 or Mac OS) and browser (e.g.,
Netscape, Internet Explorer) being used, the domain name of the Internet
service provider (e.g., Sympatico, @home), which pages were visited
and for how long.
(i)
contests
For
contests on teletoon.com, we collect a participant's e-mail address
and phone number for the sole purpose of communicating with prize
winners on a one-time basis and awarding the prizes. Before any
prize is sent out, the winner (or his or her guardian) must sign
and return to TELETOON an affidavit of eligibility and release form
(the "Release") which we provide the winner by e-mail.
If the Release is not returned to us within the time period noted,
the winner forfeits the prize, and an alternate winner is chosen.
TELETOON never uses these e-mail addresses to contact a potential
winner for any other purpose than in connection with the prize and
we delete all e-mail addresses collected once the contest is over.
(ii)
newsletters
For
periodic newsletters on teletoon.com, we collect a participant's
first name, e-mail address, and if the participant is under eighteen
(18) his or her parent's e-mail address. We
then send an e-mail notification to the guardian asking permission
for the child's receipt of newsletters from teletoon.com. If the
guardian wishes to deny permission, they need to reply to the e-mail
within 72 hours of receipt. Otherwise, the parent will be deemed
to have approved the child's receipt of the newsletter.
A
subscriber (or guardian) can at any time be removed from the newsletter
mailing list by following the instructions at the bottom of the
newsletter. If such a removal request is made (or if the parent
denies permission from the outset), any personal information collected
for newsletters is deleted from our database.
If
a participant is under 19 years of age, he or she will not receive
a subscription to the Unleashed newsletter until his or her guardian
has responded to a separate e-mail.
(iii)
online questionnaires
From
time to time teletoon.com may request feedback from our surfers
regarding an activity, item of content, or the entire web site.
Such feedback is used for internal purposes only, and any personal
information that is accidentally submitted is deleted. Such feedback
helps us in our quest to provide the most compelling activities
and content for our visitors. We also us this information to
gage visitors’ interest level and opinions so that we can continue
to develop our site and provide visitors with the best customer
service and product.
(iv)
shop.teletoon.com
Teletoon.com
collects basic ordering information, such as your name and shipping
address, required for shopping transactions shop.teletoon.com. Teletoon
does not share this personal information other than with an outside
agent that assists us in fulfilling your order. Any third party
that does assist us with shipping has agreed not to disclose or
use this information for any purpose other than to deliver your
order to you.
Teletoon.com
reserves the right to cooperate with authorities in investigations
of unlawful activities and this may require the disclosure of your
information. In addition, in order to protect you from fraudulent
transactions, teletoon.com may provide your online shopping related
information to a reputable third party organization to perform credit
card approvals or address verification. The third party has agreed
not to retain or disclose this information.
(v)
electronic postcards
Teletoon.com
allows visitors to send electronic postcards to their friends. Users
are asked only to provide their first name and their friend's first
name and e-mail address, all of which are deleted once the postcard
is sent.
TELETOON
does not sell, barter or distribute any personal information obtained
from our visitors other than as disclosed in this policy.
Protecting
Information – Disclaimer
TELETOON
urges all visitors to keep in mind that whenever personal information
is provided online, that information can be collected and used by
people you do not know. TELETOON uses its best efforts to ensure and
protect our visitors’ personal information and privacy. However,
TELETOON cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose
online and we must therefore advise that you please do so at your
own risk.
Policies
for individuals under the age of thirteen (13)
- Although
visitors under the age of 13 are allowed to participate in contests,
if such a visitor wins, declarations and releases must be signed
by a parent or legal guardian of the winner prior to awarding/releasing
a prize.
- While
responses, names, ages, images and artwork may be displayed online,
visitors’ e-mail addresses and vital statistics are not posted
on TELETOON Web site.
- No
information should be submitted to or posted on our Web site by
visitors under the age of 13 without the consent of a parent or
legal guardian.
- Unless
otherwise specifically notified online as part of an online activity,
game, contest or information gathering session, TELETOON does not
provide any personal information, regardless of its source, to any
third party for any purpose whatsoever.
- No
information collected from visitors under the age of majority is
used for any direct marketing or promotional purposes whatsoever.
- TELETOON
strongly encourages parents and/or legal guardians to spend time
online with their children and to participate in the contests, games
and interactive activities offered on our Web site.
Links
to Other Sites
TELETOON links only to sites we consider appropriate.
Visitors
should be aware that when they are on TELETOON’s Web site and
a link is available, these third party sites are beyond our control.
Links to other sites take visitors outside TELETOON’s service.
This includes links to affiliates, potential advertisers, sponsors
and partners that may enter into agreements with TELETOON. Third party
sites may use cookies, collect data, or solicit personal information.
Always be alert and aware of where you end up and who you are dealing
with.
TELETOON shall have no liability for third party sites.
Security
Policy
Security regarding personal information provided by our visitors is
of serious concern to us. We exercise great care in providing secure
transmission of your information from your computer to our secure
servers and utilize encryption software to ensure that protection.
Only
those employees or related parties who require access to your information
in order to reform their tasks or process entries or information are
allowed access. By virtue of employment contracts, all information
obtained while acting under the direction of, or on behalf of, TELETOON,
except where expressly advised to the contrary, is considered confidential.
Acceptance
of these Terms
Use of this site signifies visitors’ acknowledgment and consent
to TELETOON’s Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy
Policy, please do not continue to use our site. Your continued use
of the TELETOON site following the posting of changes to the terms
herein will infer that you accept any changes. TELETOON expressly
reserves the right to amend or update this Privacy Policy from time
to time.
